Happy Easter

I wish everyone a Happy Easter! My mom is coming to visit so I'm very excited!

I love the decoupage look and finally tried making something. While I was making it I was thinking this is the ugliest thing I've ever made. But once it was made and I put it on my youngest I like it. So what do you think? Is this ugly or so ugly it's cute- ha, ha. There are several talented ladies on ebay that make the cutest decoupage outfits (just "search custom boutique deco*"). The pictures aren't the greatest as it's hard to chase an 18 month old around and get them to pose. I think there was too much sun but hopefully you get the idea.

I haven't decided if I will make these to sell. I guess I can list it and see what happens. What do you all think? Please post your comments!
Have a blessed weekend!

Melissa

Hee-Haw

I found this cute corduroy fabric in the sale bin at JoAnn's last Thanksgiving. It was only a few dollars! I made these cute pants and onesie for my youngest. I wish I had more fabric so I could make some to sell.

I also made this cute shirt for my friend's baby. I wish I'd used a lighter pink fabric and started making them earlier so I could have listed some on ebay!

I'm going to start working on some cute spring/summer designs so stay tuned. I hope to have some listed soon.

Have a great day!

Handbags & Totes

I love handbags. I think it began when I was pregnant with my first son. There was only so many maternity clothes I could buy so I started buying lots of shoes, makeup and handbags. My first big splurge was a black Kate Spade bag. Since then I've splurged on more than a few Coach bags. It's funny how I'll only buy cheese and cereal that's on sale but I'll spend over $200 on a handbag.

Anyway, I've seen cute totes and diaperbags on ebay and etsy and decided to try my hand at it. I've only seen a few that were personalized so hopefully I can find a niche. Below are a few I've made for myself. I hope to start listing some on ebay and etsy soon.

Here's a tote I made to carry around my sewing books and magazines. It's made with Amy Butler fabric. I absolutely love her fabric!

Here's a bag I made for my son and all of his sports gear.

Minimum Day

Happy Wednesday!Wednesday is always my most hectic day of the week. It's minimum day at school and since my kiddo is in Kindergarten he only goes to school for 2 1/2 hours. It's almost a joke- that's shorter than a day at pre-school. It also messes up naptime for my younger two. I always have to wake them up early and they are very grumpy. Ok, enough venting.

I was productive though in the two hours my oldest was at school. Not only did I steam clean my kitchen and bathroom floors, I was able to finish up an order today and even make a gift. I still have one more order to get done and then I hope to start making some new designs I've had in mind. Time flies so fast that I always feel like I'm missing the boat on upcoming seasons and holidays. I would have loved to list some St. Patrick's Day and Easter designs but they just snuck up on me too early this year- especially Easter!

Since I wasn't able to make or list any new items for St. Patrick's Day I'll post a picture of a onesie I made last year for my youngest son's first St. Patty's Day. I'll also post a picture of him modeling my "Surfer Dude" onesie.

By the way, if you don't have one I definitely recommend buying a steam cleaner for your floors! It cleans and dries superfast! I have a EuroPro brand that I bought off HSN or QVC but I also see a Shark one advertised on a late night infomercial that looks pretty cool. It cleans and dries superfast!

Have a great evening!

Weclome!

Weclome to my new blog!

Hello and welcome to my new blog! My name is Melissa and I make custom boutique items for babies and kids. I started out making mini-baby blankets and burp cloths when my second son was born. I was getting a lot of compliments and started selling them on ebay. From there my business has grown and I now make personalized and custom gifts including blankets, onesies, burp cloths, bibs and shirts for all occassions.

I started this blog because people are always asking me if I have a website. The answer is yes and no. I have the domain name "sandiegobeachbaby.com" through Yahoo and used their site builder to start a website a few years ago. I've tried to update it and I can't figure out how to get it the way I want it so all of the information, pictures and prices are outdated. I sell on ebay (ebay id: sandiego_beachbaby) but I don't always have items listed as I keep busy with orders from friends, neighbors and referrals. Anyway, I thought I'd start this blog to give out so customers could check out what I make and I can keep everyone updated on new items and fabric.

Below are some samples of my staple items; baby blankets, burp cloths, onesies and bibs. I will update in the coming days of some of the other things I make.

Thanks for visiting!
